Chinmaya Mission's new residential school for Indian classical music and dance, 'Chinmaya Naada Bindu,' (CNB) was inaugurated on Sep. 13, 2009 at 'Chinmaya Vibhooti, in the presence of august music and dance artists, including Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, and Rama Bharadwaj.
Seminars, camps, and workshops have already begun on the Chinmaya Vibhooti campus. Noted music and dance teachers have begun conducting intensive workshops for students.
Designs for the school's facilities are underway. Included in the plans are dance studios, music rooms, a library, a recording studio, isolated rooms for solitary practice, and residential rooms.
Situated on the Chinmaya Vibhooti site in Kolwan, near Pune, India, CNB will invite and welcome teachers and students from all over the world. The main subjects will be vocal music, instrumental music, and all major Indian dance forms. Affiliated to a reputed university, Chinmaya Naada Bindu will house appointed, highly qualified faculty and a visiting faculty of celebrated contemporary artists. The school will be an ideal place of inspiration for musicians and music lovers to follow in the music traditions and lineage of a guru-shishya parampara.
